What we are (and aren’t)

We like calm, simplicity, honesty, quality without the frills, welcoming each guest by name… We like to represent the style of Barcelona: Mediterranean, dynamic, diverse, a combination of history and modernity.

Here you won’t find superfluous design, social events, groups, noise… You won’t find large or excessive facilities (we don’t have a restaurant, spa or pool).

We prefer to focus on the most important thing: a boutique hotel with personality, designed for individual travellers, with spacious, impeccable rooms and high quality materials, elegant but not sophisticated, peaceful, where, the second you cross the threshold, you’ll be swept away by the Rambla itself.

Excellence in the service: This is where we focus our attention, resources and time. It is also the aspect noted most by our guests in feedback after their stay and the main reason for which the Montecarlo is, and has been for years, one of the most highly rated hotels in Barcelona.

The building

Built in 1910 with a classic, stately style, especially evident on the facade, the building looks spectacular when it is illuminated at night. It started out as the residence of a typical bourgeois family and then became the head office of the newspapers “Las noticias” and “El correo catalán”. In 1945, the owners at that time (the Lleó-Juanola family) transformed it into a hotel.

We have been strict in our maintenance and renovation of the facilities, whilst always keeping within our style: applying constancy, discretion and being highly self-demanding. For example, with each renovation we have reduced the number of rooms to make them more and more spacious.

We serve a buffet from 7 to 11, on the ground floor. The breakfast price is 14 € per person per day

In line with our usual approach, we offer a peaceful atmosphere and use fresh quality produce: from freshly squeezed orange juice to coffee from the best brand which we prepare the way you like it along with freshly made bread and pastries .
